Svetlozar Savov: 'Winning The Belt Was Good, Retaining It Was Even Better'
Svetlozar Savov stayed unbeaten under the WFC banner on October 21st, when he retained his middleweight crown against Bojan Velickovic, a young, hungry and confident challenger. The Bulgarian believes that his class shone through at the Hala Tivoli, and was pleased to get the 'W.'
"I think that in the fight I showed I was a different level and the better abilities were obvious," stated Svetlozar. "I'm glad that I won. This victory is the result of many efforts and a lot of training. This proved that it was worth it."
The under-84kg champion readily admits that Velickovic brought more to the table than he expected, and that he'd previously thought he would finish the bout. Savov noted,
"Bojan showed very good abilities. He definitely surprised me. I expected the fight to end easier and faster, but he was good and looked very well trained."
Keeping hold of the crown filled Svetlozar with joy, and he was keen to urge the public to maintain their backing of him at future events.
"I was very happy," beamed Savov. "Winning the belt was difficult but gave me great pleasure. Retaining it was even better. I hope that the fans will continue to come to all the WFC events. They have to support us and to be there for us - it gives us impetus."
