The World Freefight Challenge middleweight title will be on the line on October 21st, as current divisional kingpin Svetlozar Savov (11-4) defends against the unbeaten Bojan Velickovic (6-0). To ready himself for war, the champion has been training abroad in order to learn as many skills as possible ahead of fight time.

“I'm in America preparing for the upcoming battle,” noted Savov, who has been working with the Wand Fight Team. “I made the decision to come here because I’ll be defending my belt against a good opponent, and I want to prepare well for this fight. I want to defend my belt, as well as evolve and grow into MMA. This is where some of the best fighters in the world train.”

Velickovic, the titlist’s first challenger, is full of confidence, even giving his view that Svetlozar is ‘good, but not great’ on the ground, where the belt-holder has picked up eight of his wins. Bulgaria’s Savov is keener to do his talking inside the ring.

“I'll keep my comments to myself,” stated the under-84kg competitor. “All I will say is that the best man will win. He's a good fighter that hasn’t lost yet. I’ve researched his style of play and I think we will make a good match.”

Svetlozar’s approach to the game is a good one, as proven by the fact that he’s never lost on a WFC event. He’s prepared to do all that’s required to pick up the ‘W’ at the Hala Tivoli.

“He’s faced some class opponents,” admitted Savov. “I've watched him fight and I don’t think that there’s anything to surprise me, but no opponent should be underestimated. I don’t like to make predictions. I'll just go out and give everything to get the victory.”

To conclude, the 23-year-old had some parting words to add. He said,

“I want to tell the Slovenian fans that what awaits them is an unforgettable battle. I will give everything and I hope they’ll be pleased with the impressive performance and show that I‘ll give them.”

Will Savov retain at WFC 17: ‘Olimp Live & Fight,’ or is it to be Velickovic that walks away with the gold? Give us your view on Facebook or Twitter.
