Significant changes to the rules used in the WFC

After 10 years of using the same set of rules in the WFC now it’s time to completely fresh the promotion. Since its early beginnings in 2006, the WFC pursued the most widespread set of rules used in the MMA ″Pride rules″ which include the use of soccer kicks and stomps.

With the development of the MMA and also with the development of the WFC as an organization at WFC 20 the cage won’t be the only big change used for the first time on August 27 in Austria. Starting with the forthcoming event WFC will update its rule book and use the ″Unified rules″.

The use of soccer kicks and stomps will become a thing of past. With the cage replacing the ring some new rules will be in use also. Holding or grabbing the fence once a fighter’s fingers or toes go through the cage and grab hold of the fence and start to control either their body position or their opponent’s body position will be ruled as fouls.

Fighters will be able to use the fence for their advantage but only to push off it at anytime. Fighter’s safety comes first and WFC will now use a much more sanctioned rules that are in line with medical and safety reasons. Along with the best wrapping team in the business fighters will be more than ready to entertain the fans in Austria.

Detailed info about the WFC Rules can be found in the Rules section.
