The World Freefight Challenge heavyweight title will be up for grabs at WFC 17: 'OLIMP Live & Fight.' Competing for the vacant belt will be Nandor 'The Hun' Guelmino and Bulgaria's Emil Zahariev, two top-calibre fighters looking to cement their legacies on one of Europe's biggest stages.
The former isn't underestimating the threat that faces him on October 21st.
"Emil is a very good fighter," admitted Guelmino. "His record is 18-4-1, and in his last fifteen fights he's only lost once. That's a very good level of performance. I think this will be my hardest fight yet technically."
With this in mind, Nandor is working tirelessly to improve his game. He divulged a little on his upcoming preparations.
"My training camp starts six weeks before the fight, especially for Emil," noted the 10-3-1 battler. "I train at the Ironfist Gym a lot with my master, Fernando Paulon, who's a member of the Brazilian Top Team, and my boxing coach, Hans Senfter, who's had more than 150 fights in his career. I also train at the Jab Club with my second boxing coach, Herman Bendl.
"Markus Di Gallo and I will visit another training camp as well to train and spar with professionals in sambo, wrestling and stand up. For conditioning, I train with Gerald Turek at the Crosszone here in Vienna.
"No matter what happens, if it stays in stand up or on the ground, my trainers have analysed Emil, and I will be prepared for his skills."
Guelmino hasn't lost since December 2009, and admits that he's feeling good coming into the most important fight of his career.
"My confidence is high, not only because of the wins, but my level both standing and on the ground is much better since my last fight for the WFC," opined Nandor. "I've learned a lot of techniques in the last one-and-a-half years.
"My goal since the beginning of 2011 has been to win the WFC heavyweight belt! It's a long time in my mind, and I will not come to lose."
To conclude the interview, the well-known heavyweight had some final words for the fans.
"I'm very happy to fight again for the WFC in Ljubljana. You will see the best 'Hun' ever. Come and enjoy that special day at WFC 17."
