Nachbar: "WFC events are spectacular!"

Bostjan Nachbar, Slovenian basketball player, is having a tremendous season in Euroleague. He’s one of the leading scorers in Europe and main reason that his German team Brose Bamberg is in Top 16 in Euroleague. But don’t worry we are not entering the basketball market, it is just that Bostjan is a big MMA and WFC fan.

He completes the basketball duo of WFC supporters on its mission to become Europe’s most prestigious MMA organization. Him and Igor Rakocevic are huge fans of the sport and are more and more involved in its promotion.

“WFC is gaining visibility and popularity year after year and is well-established in the European and global MMA scene. WFC events always serve with spectacle and very interesting fights,” stated Nachbar.

WFC organized some spectacular events in 2012 and filled the Hala Tivoli at WFC 16 when over 7.000 fans gathered to watch quality fights and enjoyed in WFC’s trademark show production. But there is always room for improvement.

“Personally, I am a big fan of MMA fights and I would like to see that WFC follows the trend and become an organization with fights only under the rules of MMA and that at the same time the ring is replaced with the cage. I think that would raise WFC to another level,” said Nachbar when being asked about his ideas for the WFC in 2013 and beyond.

Nachbar is truly a devoted MMA fan, there is not a single WFC event that he has not seen. He cheers for Slovenian fighters, especially Bratovz and Chorchyp. But on top of that there are a few fighters out there that he enjoys watching. “I have always supported the fighters who are diverse and they are called "mixed martial artist" for a reason. My favorite fighter is Georges St. Pierre, I like Diaz brothers, Joe Lauzon, Rory MacDonald and Donald Ceronne among others. However let’s not forget legends - Randy Couture, Tito Ortiz and Vitor Belfort.”

His WFC favorite is current Middleweight Champion Svetlozar Savov who defended his title at the recent event, WFC 17, and defeated Velickovic from Serbia.

Nachbar prefers submission and not KO since his is very fond of jiu-jitsu and tactical elements which are vital for submission techniques.

Bostjan, Zlatko, Igor

He sees himself as a bigger MMA fan than Rakocevic who he inspired for MMA years ago. Since then Igor became addicted to the sport and is now a big fan. But Bostjan had something to add: “I’m a bigger expert than Igor, be sure to put that in the interview,” Nachbar ended the thought laughing.

‘’Keep supporting WFC in the future! Undoubtedly, 2013 will be even more interesting. I'll see you at ringside!’’
