Hallmann: "I'll fight whoever is put in front of me!"

Piotr Hallmann entered WFC 17: Olimp Live & Fight as a replacement for injured Bojan Kosednar and surprised everyone when he defeated Vaso Bakocevic via TKO. It was a brutal fight as Bakocevic was stopped by doctors due to severe cuts on his face. Piotr entered the WFC ring with a super record of 10-1-0 and proved his worth. WFC’s Lightweight Champion will defend his title later this year and now is the perfect time for us to get to know him even better.

Piotr stated that it didn’t bother him when he was offered the fight on a short notice. He’s always in training and in good shape, the only thing that he has to do prior to the fight is to get his weight down and his cardio up. ‘’ My coach Grzegorz Jakubowski had a look at Bakocevic and he felt that I matched up really well with him, so we took the fight,’’ said 26 year-old from Poland who came into WFC as a unknown fighter and left the ring with a Champion belt. That was truly a surprise for the audience as everyone expected that Bakocevic will win but in the end they escorted the Champion out of the ring with applause.

There was a ‘mini battle’ prior to the fight as the two exchanged some words at the weigh-in. Tactic that Bakocevic likes to use but it backfired. “To be honest, I don’t really care for little games like that. My job is to fight and win,” stated Hallmann. “When Vaso pushed me at the weigh-ins, he crossed a line and I wanted to punish him for that.”

He surely did that and now he’s the man to beat, literally. It will be interesting to see who he’ll face the first time when he’ll defend his title. At WFC 18 Bakocevic vs Kosednar fight will happen and maybe afterwards the winner will become the first challenger of the young Polish Navy Officer.

Piotr is an officer in the Polish Navy, a fact that many of you probably didn’t know yet. He serves his country at the naval base and trains daily to achieve his goal of becoming a professional MMA fighter. Now he came to a point in his career where he will see whether fighting is something he will be able to do professionally.

He has an interesting nickname which is quite incomprehensible for wider audience - Płetwal. “Płetwal is the Polish word for whale. It’s a nickname that was given to me by my coach after one of our first trainings.”

Hallmann took the Lighweight belt at WFC 17: OLIMP Live&Fight

WFC is known throughout Europe as being one of the top promotions and the latest success of its fighters proves that. Bratovz fought at INOKI Bom-ba-ye for New Year’s Eve, Heavyweight Champion Guelmino fought in Strikeforce and has recently signed for world’s top promotion UFC. WFC truly proved its worth and that is why many fighters stand in line to fight in WFC ring.

Hallmann could be the next one, especially if he will continue as he started. “Winning the WFC title has definitely been the most important success of my career so far. WFC is the biggest organization in Southern Europe and many great fighters like Dennis Siver, Francis Carmont, Alexander Shlemenko, Rafael Feijao or my coach Grzegorz Jakubowski have fought for WFC over the years,” Hallmann praised the WFC and its success. “WFC is definitely the number one promotion in Southern Europe.”

Boxing, wrestling and no-gi grappling practitioner will surely be kindly welcomed when he returns to WFC ring. He’s grateful for a nice reception at WFC 17 and promises to be back soon to defend his Lightweight title.
