Emil Zahariev Excited To Compete For WFC Gold

Emil Zahariev is not used to losing. With a stellar 19-4-1 record to his name at just 24-years of age, the Bulgarian has won his last nine bouts, and will look to add the WFC heavyweight title to his list of honours on October 21st. To do this, he will have to beat Nandor Guelmino (10-3-1), who has himself not tasted defeat since 2009.
“I know what I've read about him on the website of the WFC, and I’ve seen his fights for the organisation,” responded Emil, upon being asked what information he has about his next foe. “I also know that he’s actively preparing to fight with me, including in Bulgaria alongside a big fight team, with sparring partners who know my style well.”
Zahariev has trained for the collision in his hometown of Ruse, with the guidance of his coach, Milen Vlahov, and brother, Svetoslav. He sees this weekend’s scrap as the presenter of an intriguing test; whether he passes or fails will be revealed on Sunday night. He said,
“My usual category is under-93kg, and it's a challenge for me to fight for the heavyweight title. This is an opportunity for me to prove myself in this category, and we’ll see how difficult this will be on October 21st. I hope we'll get an interesting fight in which we’ll both have our chances, and MMA fans will be satisfied.”
