Anderson Silva: ''Grant is the best referee in the business!''
Anderson Silva is still regarded as one of the best pound-for-pound MMA fighters in the world despite his shocking loss against Weidman. He had an unbelievable run of 16 consecutive victories and 10 successful title defences in the UFC. His streak ended in July as Weidman shocked the world with a KO in the second round that ended the longest title reign in the UFC history. But Silva is determined that he'll come back to the top as the two will fight again at the end of the year.
"I was mixing with some negative people before my last fight and that cost me dearly," stated Silva exclusively for WFC while holding a seminar attended by WFC’s referee Grant Waterman. WFC's referee, Grant Waterman, and one of the best MMA middleweight's of all time, Anderson ''The Spider'' Silva, go a way back. Back in the days when Grant was in the Cage Rage he witnessed just how impressive Silva can be. He holds a perfect 4-0 score in the British organization which was a springboard for his UFC career.
He turned over a new leaf after an unexpected loss and is ready to re-occupy the throne in the UFC middleweight division. He’s still not sure what went wrong in the last fight. "My energy was just wrong and I felt a lot of pressure which is not normal."
In the meantime this once no.1 P4P fighter in the world is preparing for his return and he's also holding seminars across the world. On one of them the duo reunited as Anderson was full of reminiscence about the old days. ''He was my favourite referee,'' stated Anderson as he reflected on the reunion.
''He's determined that he'll come back and prove to everyone that he's not done yet,'' added Waterman who has been with WFC for ages. Being regarded as one of top European referee's he beyond doubt adds to the high level of professionalism that WFC is all about.
