Aleksandar Rakic: ‘I Was Ready For Anything’
Austrian up-and-comer Aleksandar Rakic scored his most high profile victory to date at WFC 17: ‘Olimp Live & Fight,’ beating hip-hop sensation Denis ‘Chorchyp’ Porcic after four rounds of K-1 action. Despite a slow start, the 21-year-old was pleased with his showing.
“I was happy with my performance, but I should have thrown more punches in the first round,” noted Rakic. “I knew from the beginning that it would be a tough fight. I was ready for anything. He was very strong, especially with his kicks, but I was well prepared for him.
“Denis had good tactics. I fast-forwarded to his high kicks, and it really surprised me that he always kicked me in the body. I was very happy when I heard that I won. If I’d have punched more in the first round, it wouldn’t have gone to an extra round.”
Looking to the future, Aleksandar wants to show his skills on a World Freefight Challenge card again, albeit under a different rule set.
“I hope that I can show what I have at the next WFC, only with smaller gloves under MMA rules. I now want to mainly focus on MMA fights.”
