A veteran of the first Challengers event, Adin Buljubasic (4-1), will make his WFC debut on October 21st. The 'Iron Man' will face Simone Tessari, an unbeaten Italian with a fearsome reputation.
"He's a good fighter, that's for sure," analysed Buljubasic, speaking of his next opponent. "His record is 7-0, but that means nothing. I'm not very impressed; they're just numbers. He's had a good run up to now, but we all know everybody gets defeated sooner or later. It's just a matter of time, and I think his time has come."
What makes the upcoming encounter particularly compelling is the fact that all the combined victories by both combatants entering this tilt have come via KO or TKO. Adin is intrigued as to how the contest will play out.
"My last loss came by decision, so I don't want to let my fights go to the judges anymore. It's always hard to say what will happen in a fight. I prefer to stand and bang and I'm sure he will try to take me down, so it will be interesting. I'll do my homework and be ready no matter where the fight goes."
Buljubasic has made some changes to his training regime as of late, and feels he's getting the high-level tuition he requires.
"Now, I train at City Thong Vienna and I've got new trainers for BJJ and wrestling," revealed the Austrian. "My BJJ coach is Orlando Neto. He's a black belt from Akxe BJJ and a genius. I'm very happy for this opportunity and I want to improve as much as I can.
"My wrestling coach is Hampach Visalimov, who's also a genius and a great coach, and has already trained some fighters for the Olympics. I'm in good hands.
"The hard part is my diet. Before this fight was announced, I was walking around at 90kg, so I have to lose some weight because of the catchweight, but it works very well. My job is also stressful. I work roughly forty hours per-week on a construction site, sometimes even more, but that's life. There's nothing for free."
The 4-1 contender is excited for the upcoming event, and determined to make a good impression at the Hala Tivoli. He noted,
"The WFC is a great organisation with big shows and a big stage, so it's important to put on a good fight.
"Challengers was cool; my first fight in Slovenia and I loved it. I like the Slovenian crowd and the people. They're all friendly and great MMA fans.
"If you put on a good fight, they will cheer for you no matter where you're from, so I'm very excited to fight there again. It's very important for me to impress there. All the people come to watch fights, so I'll give them a fight.
"I'll leave everything I've got in the ring and put on the best fight I can; of course for me and the victory, but also for all the people who come to watch WFC 17."
Buljubasic is of the view that the upcoming bill will be a fantastic spectacle for the fans, and offered a prediction for his battle on the show.
"It's a great fight card and there going to be some highlights, that's for sure," stated Adin. "I think I will finish my fight in the second with a TKO, but hey, anything can happen."
